Aamer Ravji

Ravji has represented clients in many different industries such as energy, hospitality, mercantile, retail, telecommunication, real estate, and financial.  Ravji represents multi-national corporations in high stakes complex commercial litigation matters, and high-profile clients in joint venture, partnership and operating and management agreements nationally and internationally underwritten by privately held billion-dollar equity groups and venture capitals.  Ravji’s experience also encompasses representing clients in acquiring interests in off-shore and on-shore blocks as developers and operators by negotiating oil and gas agreements with foreign governments and multinational companies and raising hundreds of millions of dollars in capital through public-private partnerships to develop and produce hydrocarbons.

Ravji also engages in cross-border representation of international clients in the United States and abroad to provide strategic solutions customized to achieve the best possible results.  Ravji advises business clients on general corporate governance matters, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring.

After receiving his medical degree from the prestigious Aga Khan Medical University Hospital, Pakistan, in 1989, and then his JD from Syracuse University College of Law in 1996, Ravji clerked with Judge William Greendyke of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas in Houston, and then went on to work for some of the most nationally recognized law firms such as Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors (f/k/a Bickel & Brewer), Godwin Gruber, and recently Dentons US LLP. 

Ravji is admitted to practice law in the States of Texas and New York.  In the State of Texas, he is admitted to practice before all state district and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Texas, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western Divisions of Texas.  Ravji is a member of Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA), American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA), and the American Bar Association (ABA).

Representative Experience

Over 21-years of experience in representing corporations, entrepreneurs, shareholders, investors, and business entities in commercial disputes that involve various substantive areas of the law both domestically and cross-border matters (including contracts, business torts, mergers and acquisitions, construction, and international trade)

Represented overseas and domestic clients in litigation and arbitration matters involving contractual dispute arising on import and export of goods, hotel owners in contractual exclusivity provisions and construction, and disputes arising from failures of upgrading technologies to more sophisticated platforms.

Successfully defended a Fortune 100 publicly traded company in a multi-state natural resources environmental damages actions where the client was exposed to multi-billion dollars in damages arising from the alleged contamination of groundwater, surface water and soil caused by the alleged environmental release of perfluorocarbons (PFCs).

Successfully handled and first chaired cases and trials in arbitration and state and federal courts involving allegations of trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference of a contract, deceptive trade practices, civil theft, conspiracy, etc.

Successfully first chaired and tried arbitration before various arbitration tribunals, including the American Arbitration Association, in domestic and cross-border disputes including disputes between domestic novel and generic international pharmaceutical companies.

Defended and prosecuted cases involving shareholder derivative action and direct claims asserted against company board of directors and officers.

Defended and prosecuted many personal injury, medical malpractice, and property damage cases.
